Cerebral Palsy Greece was founded in 1972 in response to an important and pressing need: care for people suffering from cerebral palsy. The Society never isolated itself, nor the people in its care. On the contrary, it has sought to raise the barriers imposed by disabilities and ensure that disabled people are incorporated within the normal society of their fellow-men and women. To this day, it is this spirit that governs all of the Society's activities, which aim at: systematic provision of services to children and adults with cerebral palsy, and ongoing support for their families; promoting the principle of acceptance for every person, both by his/her family and by society as a whole; training and further education for specialist staff; raising public awareness; encouraging scientific research, particularly as regards prevention; promoting legislative and government measures in favour of disabled people.
