6th president of Germany Karl Heinrich Lübke (German: ( listen ) ; 14 October 1894 – 6 April 1972) was a German politician who was the second President of West Germany from 1959 to 1969. He suffered from deteriorating health towards the end of his career and is known for a series of embarrassing incidents that may have resulted from his health issues. Lübke resigned three months before the scheduled end of his second term amid a scandal as to his involvement with the Nazi regime during World War II.
