Location

Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, is a country located in Southeast Asia. It is bordered by Bangladesh and India to the northwest, China to the northeast, Laos to the east, Thailand to the southeast, and the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea to the southwest.

Capital

The capital city of Myanmar is Naypyidaw.

Population

As of the latest estimates, Myanmar has a population of approximately 54 million people.

Area

Myanmar covers a total land area of about 676,578 square kilometers (261,227 square miles), making it the 40th largest country in the world by land area.

Official Language

The official language of Myanmar is Burmese. There are also many ethnic minority languages spoken throughout the country.

Government

Myanmar is officially known as the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. It operates as a unitary parliamentary republic under the 2008 constitution. The President of Myanmar is the head of state, and the government is led by the State Counsellor, currently Aung San Suu Kyi.

Independence

Myanmar gained independence from British colonial rule on January 4, 1948.

The currency of Myanmar is the Burmese Kyat (MMK).

Economy

Myanmar has a mixed economy with agriculture, manufacturing, and services sectors. The country is rich in natural resources, including jade, gems, oil, natural gas, and timber. Political Transition
