Object description
The synagogue was erected around 1650 in Gwoździec , then in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, today in the Kolomyia Raion, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. The building was seriously damaged in a fire during World War I. It was rebuilt in the interwar period, but destroyed completely by the Germans in 1941. The painted ceiling and timber-frame roof were reconstructed between 2011 and 2013 for POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, in Warsaw.
